| Samento
has Anti-tumor, Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory properties beneficial
in the treatment of immune system related conditions and intestinal disorders.
Samento is an extract of Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa (Aubl.) Gmel. Rubiaceae.
"Una de gato", "Cat's claw", "Paraguayo",
"Garabato","Una de gavilan,"Hawk's claw"). but
the extract is controlled so only the positive elements of cats's claw are
allowed to be in the extract. Samento is different in its amazing power
to strengthen the immune system up to 1000 times stronger.
Samento's advantage corresponds to the alkaloid pentacyclic oxindole (POA). Cats Claw carries (POA's) and an additional alkaloid called tetracyclic oxindole (TOA). TOA's exert antagonistic effects on the POA's, which are the magic within Samento. Samento is TOA free through a natural process of selecting the wildcrafted plant for harvesting at the crucial TOA free time. Our Samento is the highest quality naturally derived whole herb containing a minimum of 0.5% POA's. |

Source: Samento is a rare Peruvian plant with anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory,Immunomodulation, Antibacterial, Antimutagenic, Diuretic, Depurative, Hypotensive and Vermifuge and anti-tumour properties that may be beneficial for immune system related conditions and intestinal disorders. "Samento is considered one of the most important botanicals in the rainforest. In Peru, Samento tea is used as a medicinal herb with almost unlimited curative properties. This herb is a powerful cellular rejuvenator. It has been used for the treatment of gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), ulcers, cancer, arthritis, rheumatism, irregularities of the female cycle, and acne. It is also used to treat organic depression. External applications of Samento include the treatment of wounds, fungus, fistulas and hemorrhoids. European research shows that Samento activates the immune system by increasing lymphocytic (white blood cell) activity. Other sources commend the effectiveness of leaf compresses against venereal diseases like syphilis. It has a positive treatment effect in cases of rheumatic disorders, neuralgias, chronic inflammation (vaginal or intestinal), and viral diseases like herpes zoster (shingles). It can also help restore proper intestinal flora and has diuretic properties." Studies suggest
Samento to be beneficial in the treatment of a wide range of immune system
related conditions; these include but are not limited to cancer, arthritis,
bursitis, rheumatism, allergies, ulcers, systemic candidiasis, all forms
of herpes, diabetes, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, intestinal disorders
and HIV infection. Research from 1970 through the present (by Klaus Keplinger and others in Austria, Germany, England, Hungary and Italy) has shown beneficial effects of Samento in the treatments for cancer, genital herpes, systemic candidiasis and AIDS. Six alkaloids isolated from the plant root have been found to significantly enhance the ability of the white blood cells to attack, engulf and digest harmful micro-organisms or foreign matter, thus assisting the process of phagocytosis in the body. Preliminary studies on the immune-enhancing properties of Samento have uncovered the following:
Active constituents: Oxyindole alkaloids appear to give cats claw much of its activity, particularly to stimulate the immune system. The alkaloids and other constituents, such as glycosides, may account for the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions of this herb. Although cats claw has become very popular in North America and is used for cancer and HIV, there is only a little scientific evidence to support the use of cats claw for these conditions. Are there any side effects or interactions? No serious adverse effects have yet been reported. Cats claw is contraindicated in autoimmune illness, multiple sclerosis, and tuberculosis. European practitioners avoid combining this herb with hormonal drugs, insulin, or vaccines. Cats claw, until proven safe, should be taken only with great caution by pregnant or lactating women. |
